An estimated 85 percent of women over the age of 20 have cellulite, but this may soon become a thing of the past. Cellulaze™ is an FDA-cleared treatment that can reduce cellulite in as little as one treatment.
Here’s a fact that might surprise you: cellulite is usually caused by factors outside of your control. While excess fat can certainly contribute to the appearance of cellulite, it’s actually due to a combination of structural problems beneath the skin, genetics, skin thickness and natural aging.
Cellulaze technology works by tightening underlying tissue and encouraging collagen production beneath the surface of your skin. The best candidates are healthy women who are not significantly overweight, but have mild-to-moderate cellulite.
Though Cellulaze is typically used to treat the lower body, it can also refresh tissue and reveal softer, more radiant skin around the face, neck and upper arms. The best way to find out if Cellulaze is right for you is to schedule a consultation at our practice.
Cellulaze treatments are usually performed in an hour or less and require a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. Once the treatment area is numbed, we make a couple of very small incisions (about the size of a pen tip) in the treatment areas. The Cellulaze laser fiber is then treaded through a cannula (small tube) and carefully inserted into the incision site.
Once inserted, the laser will heat up and liquify unwanted pockets of fat. The laser also cuts through fiber bands that pull the skin and cause dimpling. As the laser continues to heat up, it also increases collagen production which leads to improved skin elasticity and thickness over time.
Cellulaze treatment usually requires no downtime. Most patients feel comfortable getting back to their normal routines right away. However, some bruising, swelling and redness will probably be present at the treatment sites for at least a few days.
Unlike other popular cellulite treatments, Cellulaze is designed to provide significant improvements after just a single treatment. Your final results will become gradually apparent over the course of about four weeks and will continue to improve for the following three months to a year. Though the results of Cellulaze are not permanent, some studies have shown long-lasting improvements, up to three years or more in some cases.
